Our Team

All our trainers have experience in Safety and Incident Management. Some are seasoned expedition leaders, safety managers or medics who have extensive knowledge of working with teams in difficult situations, often in remote regions of the world. All have comprehensive experience working within corporate environments, which provides them the unique blend necessary to deliver our programmes and maximise their effectiveness.

Lloyd Figgins FRGS

Lloyd Figgins

Lloyd has worked as a safety consultant and medic throughout the globe and his expertise has taken him to over 50 countries.

He is qualified as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and specialises in pre-hospital emergency care in remote environments. Lloyd also holds an OCR Level 3 in Off Site Safety Management and is a Royal Geographical Society approved trainer.

Lloyd has worked with incident management teams around the world and has extensive experience in providing training to those operating in the wilderness.

Kelly Jordan

Kelly Jordan

With a degree in Social Anthropology, Kelly has utilised her interest in group dynamics, teamwork and people to good effect. Having recently gained her PGCE she is particularly interested in creative training and learning. She often participates in the educational and emotional development of young people and recognises that both children and adults learn valuable lessons through practical rather than passive learning.

Kelly specialises in creative leadership and is currently evaluating the effect that this has on ownership of work, motivation and teamwork.

David Whiddon

David Whiddon

David served in the Royal Marines prior to taking his skills global. Following his service David worked as an outdoor leader, leading teenagers on backpacking trips in Northern California's wilderness areas. Working with young people highlighted the need that an effective leader is someone who can communicate with people from different backgrounds.

David has participated in the Chilean expedition tours for Raleigh International and utilised his French and Spanish language skills leading groups around South America on trekking tours.

Returning to UK, David has combined his desire to train and lead people with his love of the sea. He is a first aid, sea survival and fire fighting instructor and assessor. David enjoys seeing people overcome their personal challenges and gain confidence by learning new skills he is an extremely effective motivator and communicator.

Nicola Conway

Nicola Conway

A New Zealander, Nicky has worked on numerous projects for organisations ranging from H.M. Customs (NZ) to the Forestry Commission. She has also led expeditions in more than 20 countries and specialises in analysing risk and implementing safety procedures.

Her experience leading and managing expeditions has influenced her work in recognising the importance of effective communication and safety management within the workplace.

This has provided Nicky with a unique insight into the demands of leadership and how to overcome adversity, even in the most trying of circumstances. A highly motivated and inspirational character Nicky has used her experience to train in a variety of environments including being responsible for training Expedition Leaders within the adventure travel industry.

Neil Macdonald

Neil Macdonald

Neil is our Technical Director, and is responsible for training and developing staff within the Super Yacht industry.

One of Neil's main roles within Navigate International is researching course content and developing new ideas. It is Neil's belief that a solid foundation comes from understanding the actions of successful models, and the behaviour of the not so successful.

Many people who attend our courses develop a strong interest in the  methods we study, and Neil often helps by advising on post course advancement for delegates.

Sandy Beatty

Sandy Beatty

Sandy has led over 40 teams in 15 countries and is a specialist in endurance and remote expeditions, with 10 Kilimanjaro summits under his belt already. He has provided leadership and safety training all over the world and been involved in the handling of many “real life” incidents. He once coordinated the successful rescue of multiple casualties from Mt Kenya in poor weather ………………from his desk in the UK! His practical experience is backed up by OCR Level 3 in Off Site Safety Management and a Certificate in Risk Management.

An ability to relate to those around him make Sandy an outstanding and likeable trainer. The skills he brings are based on experience and knowledge, making him an invaluable resource for any organisation, as well as being able to recount a good campfire story or two.
